Dr. Howard highlighted communication challenges which arise when conducting public health research on sensitive issues among underage populations. Using case studies on adolescent social drinking and violence exposure, some of the difficulties inherent in confidential vs. anonymous research as well as the challenges in making and acting on risk assessments were addressed.
